For Holy Week this week, Alex's second grade class performed a passion play of the Stations of the Cross in their school's outdoor classroom. Alex played Pontius Pilate and had quite a few lines. The class practiced over and over for weeks beforehand and everyone knew their lines spot on. It was a great and practical way for the kids to learn their Stations of the Cross.
When we were discussing at home what to do for a Pontius Pilate costume, Michaela chimed in to say, "He has to wear a red cape, because that's what Pontius Pilate wears." I was completely surprised that she would know that, but she explained that they've watched "Jesus movies" in her classroom. We decided on a purple sash instead and Michaela approved the costume in the end. Michaela, for her part, knows quite a bit about the life of Christ, I'm learning!
