Trick or Treating

Happy Halloween!  We enjoyed great weather for the trick or treating hayride throughout the neighborhood, courtesy of the neighborhood dads.  Surprisingly, our sweet girly Michaela chose to be a vampire this year.  Alex and Sophia (maybe not so surprisingly) were a ninja and a princess.  Jimmy and I dressed up as Weather Channel Superstorm Sandy reporters, complete with galoshes and canoe oars.

So, the question on every little girl's mind was: will the Chainsaw Man make an appearance?  As we approached the yard where Chainsaw Man typically lunges out of a stand of trees, the block was strangely silent.  We were told by the homeowners/candy distributors that Chainsaw Man was not out this year.  But the dads were ready for this turn of events.  Jimmy had taken the chain off our chainsaw and had it with him in the back of his truck.  Preparing for a surprise attack, Jimmy ran ahead in the dark with a chainsaw, found a bush to hide behind, crouched down to wait for us, and was promptly spotted by a cruising Bartlett police man who flooded him with his car's spotlight, looked over this weather man-clad middle aged man hiding in a bush with a chainsaw, determined him harmless, and kept on riding by.  Jimmy, as always, is a magnet for police activity!  But he was unhindered in ambushing our hayride with his chainsaw and eliciting screams from girls and boys alike!
