Team Alyssa Rocks the St. Jude Half Marathon! (12.1.12)

Thank you SO MUCH for your support of my efforts as a St. Jude Hero on Team Alyssa Rocks, which raced to honor Alex's classmate Alyssa, a St. Jude patient.  Thanks to your support, I exceeded my fundraising goal of $1000 and Team Alyssa Rocks has raised more than $7000 for St. Jude!!

This year's half marathon day offered unprecedented warm balmy weather for a December Saturday.  The race was an incredible and moving experience. Anne, my racing partner, and I had trained some this fall with our friends Lisa and Christina.  Christina's son Max, age 15, has recently been diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma and is himself a patient at St. Jude.  We had many reasons to race and many thoughts spurring us on step after step for the 13.1 miles of the race.

It was great to race with Joanna, and be cheered on by Casey and Julia as we went by their street!

I am grateful for my health that allows me to complete this amazing event each year, for the health of my own kids, and for the excellent care that both Alyssa and Max are receiving at St. Jude.  Please keep Alyssa and Max in your prayers!
