Sophia, this summer you have crossed the threshold of toddlerhood into Big Kid-dom! How big and creative and talkative and beautiful you are! A day spent with you is a day living life in the present. Your energy and excitement bring such a great balance to our family. You remind us what family is all about.
Sophia, your Daddy and I are completed enchanted by your wit, your joy for life, and your imagination. This past year has seen you grow ever more talkative and inquisitive. To have a conversation with you is a glimpse into heaven for me, because you approach all conversations with the earnestness and purity and goodness of an angel. I could listen to your lilting voice for hours. Which is fortunate, because your lilting voice rings through the house all day long!
New this summer is your independence. You are comfortable playing with our friends Breanna and Katelyn across the street for hours without me or Daddy around. Last night I watched from the front door as you and Michaela, released after dinner, bounded over to play with your friends. When you reached the edge of our yard and stepped into the street, you instinctively reached your hand out for Michaela's, and she for yours. I watched you and your big sister walk hand-in-hand across the street, and realized that you are one of the Big Kids. We are so proud of the young lady you have become! What fun times we have in store this year!
