For the 4th of July, we planned a mini-block party (really a cul-de-sac party) with 3 other families. The kids' decorated their own parade "floats" in the Watson garage, we pulled our grills out front and grilled in the McNinch driveway, and dined al fresco in the Crews driveway. Although after we gathered, we did begin to wonder why we chose to do all this outdoors, when the temperatures were above 100 degrees and just sitting outside was kind of a miserable experience.
The parade was momentous, with songs and skits written and performed by the girls while Alex and Alex set up a fireworks stand. We had a lot of fun and made the most of a stifling July evening. Happy Birthday, America!
