For Alex, another highlight of our trip to New Orleans was a morning at the Audobon Insectarium. The Insectarium is a great interactive museum all about BUGS! We learned that insects are an important source of protein in many cultures and that entomophagy (insect-eating) is practiced all over the world! In a really cool interactive bug kitchen called "Bug Appétit", bug chefs had some foods we could sample. Alex, Jimmy and even Sophia sampled chocolate "chirp" cookies (with crickets on top) and chocolate covered meal worms. They were tasty, I'm told! (Michaela and I just took their word for it.) For being brave enough to eat Bugs for Brunch, Alex, Sophia, and Daddy got their hands stamped and Alex took home a t-shirt.
We also loved the Butterflies in Flight exhibit in an indoor Asian-inspired garden. The Insectarium is not to be missed next time you are in NOLA!
The Crews kids are now Big Fans of the Big Easy!
